Suburban Shores is a community of approximately 68 homes with no buildable home sites remaining. The community started back in 1953 with 42 of the best acres of land available on Johns Lake. This is a community and not a subdivision. People here know one another and work together to maintain the area. This is also a place where community events still happen.
In order to get to this community, you must find it. There is a sign but you will not see it from Colonial Drive. To see it you turn South off of West Colonial Drive onto Lake Boulevard. The first sign you will see says No Outlet. You are on the right track. After getting onto Lake Boulevard take your first right then your first left and the road’s name will turn into Suburban Terrace. At this point start Looking for the white community sign.
Not all have great views but they all technically have lakefront homes. There is a canal connecting what looks to be a pond to the greater lake body. There is a small community property between the homes with a very nice bridge over the canal. The majority of the homes were built between 1952 and 1993 and the home sizes range from approximately 1,100 square feet to 3,100 square feet. There may be exceptions to this on the lakefront homes.
Suburban Shores is definitely a unique place. The owners there recognize that and seldom are the homes for sale. On average only 3 homes have sold per year over the last 4 years. Suburban Shores is a great place to look at homes for sale in a lakefront community.
