It is a small area but has a lot going for it. The town was settled by a German immigrant in 1885 named H.A. Hempel. Mr. Hempel always had big plans for the area. After purchasing 1000 acres he immediately named the area after his place of birth in Germany. Although he made a valid attempt to get the town to grow it would only be surpassed later by Windermere and Winter Garden Florida. Gotha however to this day retains much of the charm that was initially brought to it by Mr. Hempel. Later Main Street in Gotha was named Hempel Avenue in his honor.
The area of Gotha as we know it today extends from Old Winter garden Rd. to the North to the North side of Westover Roberts Rd.
Its East and West boundaries are 7th avenue and Woodlawn Cemetery Rd respectively. There are several lakes in Gotha Lake Olivia, Lake Nally and Fischer lake are by far the most well known.
It is often much more affordable to purchase a nice home in one of its’ communities and simply commute on one of the many local roads. Normally traffic is light and you can quickly be to a major through-fare like the Spessard L. Holland East West Expressway or the Florida Turnpike.
Gotha retains some of its’ originality and country charm because of the proximity of Ocoee. Just minutes from Gotha and you can be at Ocoees' Health Central Hospital or even a large mall or movie theater like the West Oaks Mall and the AMC 14 West Oaks Theater. Combine those conveniences with the value for your dollar in Gotha Real Estate and the choice to many is obvious.
